No.9 Barronstrand St. opened in 2013 as a bustling 150 seat café in the heart of Waterford city. The aim was to offer high quality casual dining using the best quality ingredients all cooked and prepared on the premises. It immediately became Waterford’s busiest restaurants with a reputation for excellent customer service and was the winner of Irelands Best Family Friendly Restaurants in 2015 and 2016.
Once we began attracting young families, we started making baby food in the restaurant, and this has grown to become ‘Pipin Pear Chilled Baby Food’, Irelands only baby food manufacturer which has also won Gold in the Blás na hÉireann awards for three consecutive Years.
We are open 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays, for Breakfast, Lunch & Brunch.

The closest Car Park is the Clock Tower Car Park on the Quays.
We do not take reservations. No.9 is a large restaurant and there is usually no problem getting a table, even for tables of 8 to 12 people. During busy times customers may have to wait for a table. Feel free to call us if you need advice.
Everything on our Menu is available to take away. You can order online from our website, Just Eat, or Uber Eats.
You can enjoy your takeaway outside at Carters Chocolate Café. You can get your drinks and desserts from Carters.
If you have an office or business in the city centre and are holding a meeting or event we will deliver, but we don’t staff events. We do Breakfast platters, finger food, sandwich platters, canopies, desserts and pastries. Email us with numbers and time for options and a quote.
We have become known for being family friendly and have evolved over the years to make coming to No.9 as pleasant and enjoyable an experience for families of all sizes and ages.
We have an extensive, award winning, children’s menu which uses all the same high quality ingredients as our other menus.
We have a dedicated baby menu and have developed our own range of award winning Baby Food; Pipin Pear, which is now available in supermarkets nationwide. We are Irelands only Baby Food Manufacturer.
We serve can usually serve Junior portions of our Daily Specials.
We serve complimentary bread sticks to children.
We have a playroom where children can hang out and watch cartoons, see the children’s menu for further details.
We have plenty space for buggies and for specialist wheelchairs.
We don’t mind if older children or adults order from the Kids menu, lots of teens order double portions.
We are happy to heat your own home made baby food if you have it with you.
We have No.9 themed activity sheets to keep children occupied at the table.
We are breast feeding advocates and welcome breast feeding groups.

No.9 is a spacious restaurant and can comfortably accommodate wheelchairs including specialised reclining chairs for customers with severe disabilities. We have an accessible toilet adjacent to the dining area.
We recommend Pipin Pear Chilled Baby food for severely disabled customers.

We serve Wine, Prosecco, Sangria & Mimosa’s. We recommend a Jug of Sangria. It’s a great way to turn lunch into a mini holiday. We serve locally brewed beer, from the Metal Man Brewing Company.
We have a range of Allergen friendly dishes on our menu and can make allergen friendly versions of many of our dishes.
Gluten Free, Lactose / Dairy Free, Vegetarian, Vegan options are indicated on the menu.

Whenever practical we source products from local suppliers, for example our beef comes from Kearney’s Butchers and the farm we grew up on. We get Pork & Bacon from our cousin’s farm in Co. Waterford. Our Lamb comes from our other cousin in the Comeragh Mountains. When in season we get locally grown herbs & vegetables from “Ballybeg Greens” community garden. Our spices come from Green Saffron spice importers in Shannagary. We buy Jams from Wexford Preserves. As well as our own home baked bread we use local bakers; Washes Bakehouse. We make our own lemonade and supply it to select supermarket. We make our own Baby Food and supply most supermarket chains in Ireland. We make all our own ice cream.
